This lakeside farmhouse was designed by Fluidesign Studio in collaboration with builder Structural Dimensions, located in Mahtomedi, a city in Washington County, Minnesota. Nestled on a half-acre wooded site, this beautiful residence encompasses 2,400 square feet with five bedrooms and three bathrooms. Designed for a family with three children, the home’s idyllic lakefront setting provides the opportunity to enjoy summer activities… and winter too when the lake is frozen over!
Lush gardens and a wraparound porch welcomes visitors to this charming home, whose design approach was to appear as if it had always existed on the property. Additional farmhouse style characteristics on the exterior facade includes dormers on the roof, custom designed corbels on the gables and cutout shakes. On the interiors, the design team put an emphasis on quality over size, focusing on comfort, beauty and details.
Cedar was used for the porch steps and front entryway, adding a rustic warmth that is very welcoming. Due to extremely harsh weather during the winter months, the architects decided on the use of engineered wood siding on the exterior facade. The materials offers incredible durability and moisture protection.
What We Love: This lakeside farmhouse was designed for casual living, brimming with personality and small details that makes this house a home. The beautiful earth tones on the walls and pops of color in the accessories creates a feeling of tranquility. This home’s color scheme successfully draws on its surroundings for inspiration. Our favorite space? The screened-in porch, the an ideal spot to spend lazy summer days and enjoy nature during the cold winter months.
