A contemporary seaside residence in Stinson Beach, California

This contemporary seaside residence was designed by architects Turnbull Griffin Haesloop, located in Stinson Beach, Marin County, California. The property offers its inhabitants a southern exposure to the Seadrift Lagoon, as well as views to the north of the Bolinas Lagoon. The structure was created as an indoor/outdoor retreat to expand living spaces. This affords opportunities to spend time with family and friends. To the south, the house forms around a central courtyard which helps to capture the sun while at the same time deflecting the wind. The courtyard, which is at the rear of the property, also creates a privacy space from neighbors on either side for a sunken seating area with a fire pit. The space also features an outdoor deck and hot tub.

The interior living spaces have been designed to extend out onto the courtyard, while an interior dining bay tips up to capture magnificent vistas of the Bolinas Lagoon and Marin Hills. The interior design scheme features white walls, which serves as a backdrop to the homeowner’s art collection. Interior elements consist of sheetrock walls, cedar clad ceilings and wide board oak flooring. The exterior facade is clad in vertical board cedar, complimented by metal windows and doors.

What We Love: This contemporary seaside residence offers its inhabitants stunning waterfront views and incredible indoor/outdoor living spaces. The cozy outdoor courtyard offers plenty of amenities to truly enjoy the quintessential California lifestyle. Plenty of windows allows those inside to soak in the views, while illuminating the interiors with natural light… what do you think, do you like the design and layout of this home?
