A family home gets a transitional makeover that’s ultra-stylish

Transitional House Interiors-01-1 Kindesign

Its all about comfort and relaxation in this transitional style home that has been completely transformed for a family of four by Rethink Design Studio in Savannah, Georgia. The riverfront property began as a more traditional style home, but the family’s needs changed so their home needed to change and adapt to their new lifestyle needs. The new design is more open and spacious, with lots of windows to bring in the natural light, heart of pine wood flooring and new updated furnishings with a mid-century vibe. The living room features a double height ceiling with a stylish Lindsey Adelman chandelier suspended from the ceiling. A herringbone area rug anchors the space, with two sofas on opposing ends, two floor poufs from CB2 offers additional seating or a place to put prop your feet! The fireplace wall adds a nice focal point to the space, featuring a fresh coat of Benjamin Moore paint, while the surrounding walls are in a different shade, also by Benjamin Moore.

A custom designed entertainment wall surrounds the brick fireplace, with the television installed above, creating a seamless design. On either side of the fireplace, roll out drawers for storage and shelving for decorative items completes the look, creating a beautiful, warm aesthetic.

The master bedroom features a few notable items, starting with the focal point, the artwork, which is where the design of the space begun. The lights on either side of the bed seems to spotlight the art, as well as creating a nice mood lighting in the space. The wallpaper offers a nice graphical print to the space, creating visual interest. The bedside tables and the bed itself have both been sourced from what seems as one of the designer’s favorite go to sources, Design Within Reach.
