A sophisticated modern penthouse positioned on the uppermost level of a newly built condominium complex was fulfilled by interiors studio Olga Akulova, in Kiev, Ukraine. The 30 story residential complex “Novopecherskie Lopki” offered penthouses ranging from 150-250 square meters, where on of them became an invest property for one of the designer’s clients. The project brief included concrete ceilings and walls of floor-to-ceiling glass windows. An additional important aspect of the brief was to construct an interior without the busy client’s control since there was not much time to complete the project. The homeowner requested that the interiors be open and spacious with natural materials. A ‘Clever House System’ was incorporated into the design scheme which allowed the homeowner program control with an IPad over the temperature, security system, lighting and television. The end result was a polished and elegant apartment designed for as a part-time home for a bachelor to spend time entertaining friends.
Natural materials of oak and elm wood were used on the walls and the kitchen island. The kitchen island countertop consists of sheet metal, which matches the hue of the concrete ceiling and framework columns. Expansive windows throughout the apartment enables the homeowner fantastic views over the city.
