A modern family home was designed as a sanctuary for relaxation by architect Diego Montero, located in the small fishing village of Punta Piedras in Uruguay. The homeowners wanted the home to be bathed in natural light, offer views of the incredible surrounding landscape and a swimming pool for exercise. The expansive pool of 25 meters was a requirement for the father, who is a triathlete. The architect was tasked with design a home to have expansive windows, several terraces and to create a an interior living environment with unique details. The outdoor area has several relaxing seating arrangements so the family can spend a lot of time enjoying their outdoor living experience. The architect built the garage under the house to elevate the home to offer even better views. The exterior facade is comprised of concrete, paying tribute to the South American culture, ranging from the 1930’s to the 1960’s. We are inspired by the sleek design of this home, the connection of indoors and out and the incorporation of nature into the mull-level design.
