Coastal home with Mediterranean style interiors in Barcelona

Mediterranean Style Home-Meritxell Ribe-01-1 Kindesign

A terraced home infused with Mediterranean style interiors was completely renovated by interiors studio Meritxell Ribé, located in the town of Gava, Barcelona, Spain. This coastal home faces the Mediterranean Sea, spread out over a three levels, the home started out with dark interior and compartmentalized spaces. The owners requested the re-design to have open spaces and inject the interior decoration with hues of blue and mauve. The new distribution is updated and tailored to the homeowners needs. In the basement, a multipurpose room offers a comfortable seating arrangement, games area and study, in addition to a garage. The ground level offers a kitchen with breakfast nook, dining area, home office space, powder bath and a living room with access to an outdoor terrace and garden. On the upper level are the private spaces, encompassing three bedrooms and two bathrooms. The renovation highlights a visual continuity throughout the living environments, with lightweight design and white walls which keeps the spaces bright and airy. The decor focuses on simplicity with a dominating Mediterranean style mixed with rustic nuances and a touch of Nordic. Varying textures and punches of color adds character, while comfortable furnishings provides a relaxing atmosphere. The sliding glass door in the living room connecting to the terrace draws nature and natural light into the interiors.

A neutral sofa gets dressed up with colorful pillows in the living room. A textured area rug over the wooden plank flooring creates warmth and division of space. A small step up leads to the dining room, which gives the area its own private space. A skylight from above brings natural light into the dining space, eliminating the need for artificial lighting during the day. Overall we think this is a very unique space that is very comfortable and serene. The designers did an excellent job of keeping the spaces fluid, open and bright. What do you think, anything you would have done differently in the design of this home?

The en-suite master bedroom features mauve walls, which was requested by the owners. Closet doors in a high gloss lacquer helps to magnify natural light. The bathroom has a glass wall that includes a sliding door, which not only helps to take advantage of natural light but also to feel more spacious.

Beatiful floors. Are those true wooden floors, or laminate imitation of the wooden floor?
