This lake house, envisioned by SHM Architects in collaboration with Faukner Perrin Custom Homes, provides a welcoming retreat for a young family of six, set on a wooded 1-acre site above Cedar Creek Lake in Texas. Blending layered modern Texas charm with moody, cozy layers, this dwelling was crafted for gathering and relaxation.

The home features three master-sized guest suites and two bunk rooms—one for cowboys, one for cowgirls—each filled with personality and purpose. What We Love About This Home

We love how the layered gabled rooflines and mix of stone and dark vertical wood siding create a sense of an organically grown compound rather than a single structure. That same rustic-meets-refined aesthetic carries through the interior, with warm white oak paneling, leather and bouclé textures, and a playful bunk room for the kids. Floor-to-ceiling windows and covered porches keep the lake in view from nearly every room, and the infinity-edge pool extends that view right out to the water’s edge.
