Charles Cunniffe Architects has designed this modern-rustic home with luxurious details, situated in the ski resort town of Aspen, in the Colorado Rocky Mountains. Nestled adjacent to a preserved agricultural field and anchored by dramatic South and West views of Aspen and Snowmass ski areas, this dwelling takes complete advantage of its natural surroundings.

Thoughtfully oriented on its site, this home soaks in views of the Elk Mountain Range. The structure stretches alongside a 10-acre hay field, intricately connecting the interior and exterior spaces to provide expansive southwest views and daylight throughout the dwelling.

It’s a great House—a truly modern lodge retreat. I’m glad the owner didn’t cut corners; the entire home is done in the same grand manner. Not everyone spends time only with a cat (no offense to cats); many of us have big families and many friends, and some of us have the money to host them. I hope the owner enjoys the house.

i guess at some point people with money decided that living in houses wasn’t enough. instead, they wanted to build private hotels to use as personal getaways. maybe i have grown tired of such over the top construction as i find it hard to admire such a display of profligate waste. but i guess the detail that struck me most was the size of the geothermal field.

Today’s oligarchs consider themselves above common norms and common people, and must build temples to themselves. Just remember that 94% of the 2024 election was funded by just 150 families. This might have been one of them. They don’t fund elections for social causes (guns, etc). The fund elections to assure that they are bailed out (with our tax money) when the economy turns down.
