This gorgeous Tudor-style home, completely reimagined by Alair Homes Toronto in collaboration with Parris McKenna Design, is situated in a quiet corner of one of the oldest neighborhoods of Toronto, Ontario, Canada. This fully transformed 4-bedroom, 3-and-a-half-bathroom home underwent a meticulous down‑to‑the‑studs renovation. Every element was reimagined to improve functionality, flow, and long-term livability for designer Parris McKenna and her family.
The basement was fully excavated to achieve generous 8’5″ ceilings, creating a bright, comfortable level that feels like a true extension of the main living spaces. On the third floor, two new dormers were added to increase headroom, natural light, and usable square footage.

The surrounding neighborhood’s distinctly English character strongly informed the design direction. Rather than leaning contemporary, the home embraces a more traditional, richly layered aesthetic with classic details, saturated colors, and thoughtful millwork. The result is a cohesive, timeless interior that feels both rooted in its historic context and perfectly suited to modern family life.

What We Love About This Home
This Tudor-style renovation blends historic character with livability, pairing half-timbered exterior charm with an interior that feels collected rather than staged. Every room commits fully to its own mood, from the sage green kitchen’s marble drama to the jewel-toned bedrooms wrapped in bold botanical wallpaper, without ever feeling disjointed from the whole. The details are what set it apart, from hand-painted tile to antique tapestries to skirted pantry cabinets, small, confident touches layered with restraint.

The cozy chair in the corner is from Pottery Barn, and the English antique-style coffee table is from Farrier. Grounding this space is an area rug from Loloi Rugs.

During the renovation, the designer requested that the ceiling height be raised 20 inches to make this space feel less like you are below grade. The addition of fabric inserts on the cabinetry makes it feel cozy and English-inspired. It creates the illusion of windows sitting behind them.
