This inviting barn-style home was constructed from an original 1840’s hand-hewn timber-framed barn that was found in Greenville, New York, and relocated to Brenham, Texas. Heritage Restorations was tasked with converting this 24 x 36 structure into a cozy barn-style home.  The layout fully utilizes the modest 864-square-foot footprint of the barn, which boasts a 14-foot eave height.

The classic home plan incorporates an open-loft bedroom, a private downstairs bedroom and bath, and a comfortable, open great room and kitchen area. The finished home uses many traditional exterior barn design elements such as a cupola, barn doors with iron strap hinges, a pent roof over the large barn doors, and a gable-end hayloft door with a “bonnet” at the peak. What We Love: The architects did a fabulous job of taking a dilapidated old barn and giving it new life by transporting it to a new location. Despite the small layout of this transformed barn, the plan is very functional and efficient. Living spaces are warm and welcoming and thanks to the soaring ceilings, it feels very open and spacious. We are especially loving the cozy sleeping loft overlooking the entire space. Overall a beautiful job!
