A recent project by the Ukraine-based designer Anton Medvedev Interiors, a barn is transformed into a guest home. This fabulous property is located on the outskirts of Cardiff, a port city on the south coast of Wales, United Kingdom. The interiors are characterized by exposed brick walls, double height ceilings and exposed wood trusses.
An open floorplan layout showcases cozy seating arrangements and a kitchen nook. A wood staircase leads to an upper level loft housing a bedroom, small closet, bathroom and library nook. There is plenty of living space for a guest to feel welcome for either a short or longer stay!
A cozy living area features a unique, tubular fireplace design, creating a more industrial aesthetic. Adding to the industrial look is the wire bulb light fixtures suspended from the ceiling at varying lengths. This creates a cool ambiance to the space and a striking visual presentation.
We featured another home tour featuring Anton Medvedev Interiors stunning work. In case you missed it, you can have a look at it here: Modern bachelor pad with dramatic design features in Kiev.
What We Love: Loving how the homeowners had their barn turned into a guest home, the perfect retreat for privacy and fantastic design. Love all the material elements of exposed brick, wood and concrete. A raw, industrial aesthetic warmed up with the texture of the furnishings and heavy use of wood. We also love the cozy hammock under the staircase, a great spot to curl up with a book… or take a nap!
