This fascinating mountain-inspired home was completed by Highgate Builders in collaboration with Andrea Goldman Design, located in Glencoe, a lakefront village in northeastern Cook County, Illinois. Blending contemporary design with a rustic mountain aesthetic, this home reflects the homeowner’s love of Colorado, where they have a second property.
The project team worked closely together to balance the elegant, purposeful, and clean architecture of the home with the comfort that the owners craved. They arranged the space, including the central open concept living-dining area, to be intimate and intentional for the homeowners, who are empty nesters, but also accommodating of guests.

Fabrics and furnishings were thoughtfully chosen to make this dwelling feel welcoming and cozy, playing off of the wood and stone of the architecture in a dark, earthy palette.

We are especially loving the beyond gorgeous kitchen with its dramatic black marble waterfall island, exquisite pendant lights and a custom rift-cut white oak, European style range hood. Above: For this mountain-inspired home, a cozy nook by the fire was an important design feature. Layers of rich texture and plush furnishings make this space one you could spend all day lounging in.
Above: Home offices have become a growing trend in the past few years. This space was designed to be functional, without sacrificing comfort and aesthetics. The plush leather chair behind a modern round table was selected in lieu of a traditional desk. The setup is sleek and stylish, yet works perfectly for a productive day. Grounding this space is an area rug from Oscar Isberian Rugs.
