Feldman Architects in collaboration with Kendall Wilkinson Design has reimagined this modern farmhouse oasis for family living, located in Woodside, a small town in San Mateo County, California. The owners desired to have their “forever home”, a place where they could raise their young children while integrating all of their diverse extracurriculars into the property.
This dwelling has undergone a complete overhaul, with its most extreme conversions redefining the front entry along with adding a level of uniformity to the exterior facade. One of the most challenging requests presented to the architects was to clarify the arrival sequence of the home — both indoors and out — while searching for ways to enhance the curb appeal for a more inviting first impression.

Collaborating with the landscape architects, the project team anchored the entry with a large water feature near the entry door and used in-stepping retaining walls to help funnel guests to a more welcoming entry.
The staircase design in the entryway was simplified to give it visual transparency, helping to reduce its presence in the space. The light fixture suspended from above is the Serge Mouille 5-Arm Spider Modern Ceiling Lamp by HORNE.
The completed transformation of the home demonstrates the expected credentials of a modern farmhouse while implementing the personal touches of the clients’ design and living aspirations. The result delivers a contemporary yet comfortable “forever home” for the Bay Area family to enjoy for years to come.
What We Love: This modern farmhouse features reimagined living spaces that have been perfectly thought out and immaculately executed. Midcentury furnishings bring a stylish vibe throughout the interiors. A beautiful landscape surrounding the home offers its inhabitants wonderful entertaining spaces, from the swimming pool to the outdoor patios. Overall, the project team did a fabulous job of creating a home that is elegant yet completely livable.

For the interior, the designer decorated the home with warmth and “soul” with timeless silhouettes of mid-century furnishings offering clean-lined sophistication to each space. Art makes a statement in each room but does not take away from the overall design concept of the home or landscape.
