This traditional style country house was designed by Paul Lamb Architects along with interior design firm Fern Santini Design, located in Westlake, Texas. This home reflects a Texas interpretation of an English country house, characterized by exquisite craftsmanship and well-edited materials to create a comfortable and refined home. To achieve the weathered, grey-hued effect typical of English stone construction, the design team selected black Leuders limestone from a quarry in West Texas.

The limestone on the exterior facade offers an inviting feel, complimented by Vermont Slate roof tiles. This provides a deep color variation and rich texture on the roof and dormers. Together, the two materials set the tone for elegant, refined interiors, where stone, wood and glass complete the palette. Stepping inside the home, mullioned floor-to-ceiling windows in the great room frames views of the beautiful surroundings.
Reclaimed, rift-sawn white oak flooring and hand-carved details reflect a high quality of craftsmanship that warm the spaces. Floor-to-ceiling wood-framed Hope windows in the living room connect to the dense scrub landscape outside, creating a sense of openness without sacrificing privacy.
What We Love: This beautiful country house offers luxuriously appointed details throughout, while maintaining a sense of warmth thanks to the use of wood and stone. Soaring ceilings and an open layout keeps the interiors feeling light and airy. Overall, a stylish and sophisticated home with great attention to detail surrounded by a beautiful countryside… Readers, what do you think of this traditionally styled home?
