This shingled farmhouse style home was designed by Jeffrey Dungan Architects, nestled on a lovely wooded property along Shades Creek in rural Alabama. The home was meticulously crafted for a retiring businessman-turned-gentleman-farmer and his wife. The couple requested that the design of their dwelling “would authentically reflect its construction and surroundings,” the architects stated. The exterior facade is comprised of rustic wood and stone, creating harmony with the structure’s peaceful countryside setting.
The layout is defined by a series of smaller roof lines, which creates the sense that the home has grown over time. Outdoor spaces are interconnected with interior ones, emphasizing the enjoyment of nature. The interior of this lovely home boasts exposed structural wood on the ceiling. Outdoor spaces showcase pergolas with layered beams, purlins, and frames, which are enhanced by the flowering vines of jasmine and scuppernongs. This further emphasizes the importance of nature in this beautiful shingled farmhouse.
What We Love: This fabulous shingled farmhouse offers it’s homeowners a tranquil countryside setting to enjoy their retirement.
