This cozy lake house retreat was designed by Smith & Vansant Architects, nestled along Lake Morey, a naturally-formed freshwater lake just west of the Connecticut River in the Town of Fairlee, Vermont. Large windows throughout this home help to bring in natural light and views of the lake.
Living spaces were designed to be welcoming and comfortable, everything one would want and expect in a lake house retreat. On the upper level, guest rooms and a bunk bedroom offer ample space for hosting overnight guests. Continue below to see to rest of this beautiful home tour…

Niches, nooks, and built-ins abound! The architects integrated numerous vignettes throughout the design of this lake house, cultivating a cozy and collected sense of space.
What We Love: This Vermont lake house provides a family with a wonderful escape on the water. This home was designed to promote a relaxed living environment, from the cozy sitting areas to the screened porch with its idyllic lake views. We think this would be a wonderful home to spend time with loved ones throughout the seasons, as there is plenty of space for gathering and enjoying outdoor activities to create cherished memories for years to come.

Above: A screened porch off the living room provides a welcoming space to entertain family and friends. New England’s weather can be unpredictable, but this bright and airy room remains usable rain, snow, or shine.
Mudroom + Drop Zone: Having a designated drop zone for shoes and coats is always a welcome convenience. The architects created this integrated space as a practical solution for the family, providing a spot to hang beach towels and stow flip-flops as they come in from the lake.
