Timeless materials and thoughtful design set the tone for this reimagined home by Amber Interiors together with Ingenuity Builders which is located in Hidden Hills, a gated community in the Santa Monica Mountains region of Southern California. The homeowners are a family of six from Chicago, who wanted to relocate their family of six to Southern California.
Enamored by the rural views and the lush property surrounding their newly built home, they found the interiors to be overly generic and lacking vitality. They entrusted the designer to infuse her signature style into this dwelling while retaining the original structure. The interiors reflect timeless, patinated finishes that are fresh yet classic. Her thoughtful use of antique pieces adds depth to the home, while layers add warmth and texture.

This gorgeous home took three years to complete and was quite the transformation. The home was torn down to the studs, and then lovingly put back together with more detail and character than what was handed to the project team.
Above: At the back of the entry hall, the designer transformed a nook underneath the staircase into a cozy seating area. Glass doors lead into the media room, clad in black shou-sugi-ban-style wood paneling.
Above: The designer installed reclaimed white oak beams throughout the interiors. The addition of these beams in the entryway makes the once cavernous space feel warm and welcoming.

What We Love: The color palette throughout this reimagined Southern California home features warm earthy tones, providing a warm and welcoming atmosphere for a family of six. We love all of the vintage pieces used throughout this home, adding character and charm. Overall, the design team did a fabulous job of transforming a stark black-and-white interior into a living environment that is truly dreamy.
