Three Barn Farm is a charming and sophisticated farmhouse with interiors by Elizabeth Drake Design, located in Northern Michigan. This dream getaway was designed for an investment banker husband and professional painter wife who desired a family gathering spot for themselves and their grown children.

The property includes several acres with apple orchards and sublime views of nature and woods. For the design, the homeowners had several must-have requests. They needed to have a separate structure for an office, art studio, and wood shop — three barns. They also desired an organic produce garden with an outdoor dining area.

The design of this dwelling features a blend of styles: elegant and rustic, along with modern and antique. With a large extended family, the homeowners love to entertain and delight in the feedback from their visiting guests, on the overall warmth that their home exudes.

The interior color scheme was inspired by the wife’s art, as her paintings are filled with joyous colors. Throughout this home, you will find pops of color from apple reds and greens to touches of gold and lavender. Overall, this warm and inviting home can best be described as the “Colorful Farmhouse.”

What We Love: This Michigan farmhouse boasts warm and inviting living spaces full of charming details. We love the rustic feel of this home mixed with modern and antique pieces to give this home personality and character. The pops of color bring a cheerful vibe, adding to the overall welcoming atmosphere that is ideal for entertaining in this countryside oasis. Overall, the project team did an incredible job of creating a cozy getaway home for family gatherings.
