Walton Architecture together with Sarah Jones Design has designed this chic mountain house getaway located in Martis Camp, a luxury private enclave in Truckee, California. Spanning 6,790 square feet of living space, this dwelling is every bit the embodiment of the typical modern Tahoe lodge. It’s a home that is meant to be enjoyed by lots of family and friends.
The overall design conveys a sophisticated style, yet the residence offers supreme function and practicality. The lines and architecture of this home are very clean and very modern. The architect created an extraordinary structure, perfectly capturing the gorgeous wooded surroundings. The project team took just under 18 months to transform the homeowner’s idea of a dream home into a reality.

The homeowners have a busy family with three children and wanted a home that would be warm and welcoming when they were visiting on their own, yet would expand seamlessly when hosting guests. To accommodate this, all five bedrooms were designed to be very open and spacious, with several built-ins and trundle beds.
The result of this functional design has created sleeping spaces for a seven to eight-bedroom house. The homeowners wished for a mountain contemporary home, yet they also loved Adirondack-style cabins. It was the interior designer’s task to combine both modern and traditional elements.

There are also several distinct seating areas as well as a game table. The Carousel Chandelier is by McLain Wiesand, featuring an exquisite French rubbed steel frame with hand antiqued convex mirrors.
