Kelly & Stone Architects has designed this gorgeous rustic mountain retreat nestled on a 1.6-acre Martis Camp homesite on Kingscote Court, Truckee, California. The owners had been envisioning their future mountain getaway for quite some time, with their goal to build in the Tahoe region.
The husband’s concepts were inspired by his nostalgic recollections of family trips in his younger years to rustic cabins in the woods. The wife, on the other hand, had more of an affection for Scandinavian design that was rooted in her Swedish upbringing. Together, they combined their shared love of design into blending their experience into this newly developed vacation home.

Within the expansive great room, the spotlight falls on exposed structural trusses and timbers. These elements, meticulously crafted off-site, seamlessly integrate with locally sourced granite veneer. Canadian company Spearhead was responsible for pre-manufacturing the exposed wire-brushed timbers. They come pre-cut and are shipped to the site with specific instructions for assembly.
