An impressive beach house in Rhode Island built to withstand storms

beach-house-exterior

Caldwell & Johnson Custom Builders has created this beautiful beach house that is nestled along the water in South Kingstown, Rhode Island. The home straddles Green Hill and Teal Ponds with stunning views from every room of this 2,392-square-foot custom retreat. This is the first home in New England to be certified under the Insurance Institute for Business & Home Safety’s Fortified Home Program.

This means the construction of this home goes beyond typical building codes to provide superior performance during severe weather (such as hurricanes, strong thunderstorms, and lower-level tornadoes). Built on concrete pillars, this impressive home is spread out over three levels. On the exterior facade, the clapboard is painted with Benjamin Moore’s CW 715 Bone Black, and the Trim is Sherwin Williams SW7006 Extra White. Continue below to see the rest of this home along with the floor plans!

What We Love: This beautiful beach house was created to protect its occupants from hazardous storms while also providing an attractive design. A beautiful exterior facade opens into an equally impressive interior with light-filled living spaces boasting waterfront views throughout. We are especially loving the expansive outdoor deck that is perfect for entertaining family and friends while also enjoying sunsets over the water.

Love the beach home and how you approached the long term aspects. I like the transitional use of the dining area according to the season.
Thank you very much for including the floor plans.
My question is to the reasons you chose gravel for the driveway over concrete…I like that choice as well.
