Magleby Construction together with Bond Design Company designed this gorgeous log cabin hideaway that’s perched at 7,250 feet and tucked away on a sprawling 50-acre property in Kamas, Utah. This fresh take on log cabin style mirrors the elegance of the surrounding mountain landscape. The dwelling integrates locally sourced timber, natural textures, and oversized windows that frame the mountainside’s rugged beauty.
Taking four years to complete, this mountain home includes a detached garage that is connected to the house via a 160-food underground tunnel. The design of this tunnel was inspired by old mine shafts from Utah’s mining days in the mid-19th century. There are six bedrooms and six-and-a-half bathrooms in this home, including a bunk room that is ideal for multi-generational living and hosting overnight guests.
Above: The spacious foyer of this stunning log cabin hideaway features soaring ceilings that necessitated large wall sconces flanking the entry. The designer selected the Fresno Large 2-Light 3/4 Wall Lantern from Visual Comfort & Co. Technically this light fixture is meant to be an exterior sconce, yet design rules are meant to be broken!
Above: In the dining room, the statement-making, 20-light chandelier is the largest version in the Geoffrey Collection, sourced from Arteriors Home. This industrial-rustic piece is perfect for hanging from a wooden ceiling beam in your great room or suspended above a large wooden dining table. The table was handcrafted by Park City Stone & Wood.
This home also features state-of-the-art components including a Savant smart-home technology system, power supplied by an extensive 41-kilowatt solar array (including a commercial backup generator), nearly 300-kilowatt hours of battery backup, six 1,000-gallon propane tanks, and an extensive commercial water filtration system with over 1,000 gallons of water storage.
What We Love: The rustic beauty of this log cabin hideaway is unparalleled. Throughout this dwelling, the project team did a fabulous job of creating warm and inviting living spaces with a beautiful material palette, along with designer furnishings and fixtures. We think this drool-worthy home would be anyone’s dream home. Every little detail is so well designed that it truly inspires one to be a homebody… or just hibernate for the winter!
