Workshop/APD has designed this quintessential beach house retreat located in Nantucket, a tiny, isolated island off Cape Cod, Massachusetts. This beautiful family residence is the result of two years of design, collaboration, and construction.
The sprawling compound, which features the main house, guest/pool house, and separate studio space with a media room and lounge, is thoughtfully integrated with the site to create a feeling of intimacy. To maximize views out towards the ocean, the architects placed living spaces on the upper level.
When designing a classic Nantucket home, the architects work within the island’s specific historic guidelines to fit the local vernacular. They also strive to find a modern way of life within them. There’s enormous inspiration and innovation to be found in the limited palette of colors and materials, and the classic gable form’s endless possibilities.
What We Love: This coastal home provides a dreamy compound for family gatherings to create lasting memories. A beautiful floorplan layout offers a feeling of intimacy, places to come together and places to have privacy. Overall, this home was designed to be warm and inviting, with captivating ocean views maximized through second-level main-floor living. We are especially loving the indoor-outdoor connection and fabulous swimming pool.

Standalone spaces and outbuildings are idyllic for families to lounge, work, nap, and compartmentalize.
