Urbanology Designs is responsible for reimagining this relaxed modern family home located in University Park, a suburb of Dallas, Texas. Renovated for a busy family of five, there are a total of five bedrooms, and six-and-a-half bathrooms in this beautiful dwelling. Most of the rooms underwent a complete overhaul aside from the kitchen, which had a minor cosmetic update.
The living room features a conversational layout with art and decor in lieu of television. It displays an attractive monochromatic style that elegantly flows among white walls and oak wood floors. To bring down the height of the soaring ceilings, the designer devised a large plaster arch on the wall to give the illusion of a niche. Additionally, a sculptural chandelier visually brings the ceiling down to a more human scale.
What We Love: This relaxed modern home provides a family with a revitalized home to cater to their busy lifestyle needs. The designer did a fabulous job of furnishing living spaces with plush and durable textures that are kid-friendly. New light fixtures and wall treatments help to freshen up the living spaces. We are especially loving the children’s playroom with its cozy window seat, and idyllic homework station.

Above: When the designer renovated this home, the homeowner still found this space to be in great shape. The designer gave this space a quick refresh. She replaced the old stainless steel range hood with a new plaster hood. She also changed out the light fixture over the island, purchased new counter stools, and brought in a few accessories.

Above: On the owner’s wishlist is this custom fabricated 10-by-10-foot mattress. They wanted this extra-large bed so their kids could hang out with them on lazy weekends. To complement the size of the bed, the designer added a custom 17-foot wide curved headboard upholstered in a wool boucle.

Above: This children’s playroom was created as the ultimate space for crafting, coloring, and completing homework. The house-shaped nook is the perfect spot for studying, with vintage chairs sourced from a flea market.
