Pillar Homes is responsible for the design of this spectacular lakeside lighthouse inspired home located in Wayzata, a small lakeside city in Hennepin County, Minnesota. This home embodies the perfect blend of a ‘right-sized’ floor plan and detailed finishings. Only a block away from the lake, this nautical-themed home has a high-functioning main floor.
The main level of this dwelling includes the primary suite, the great room with floating beams, the dining area with an eating booth/nook, the kitchen with an island that includes seating, and the outside phantom screened porch. From the exterior facade, the lighthouse portion of the home has a copper roof. Continue below to see the rest of this exciting home tour…
Throughout the entirety of the home, there are featured areas of reclaimed wood such as the high ceilings, wood floors, kitchen island, and a lower level bar that is made of a Chris Craft stern. Blending nautical history with current upgraded vintage products, this home also incorporates high-end appliances, a carpeted indoor gym, a reading nook, and a washer and dryer in the primary suite.
What We Love: This lakeside home has a cool nautical theme throughout to further the lighthouse-inspired feel, which was the goal of this project. We are loving the overall aesthetics of this home, with the unique great room ceiling detail and shiplap accents for inviting warmth. The home bar in the basement is also a unique feature with its repurposed backend of the stern of a Chris Craft boat.

Above: The unique ceiling treatment in the great room is reclaimed southern pine, which adds warmth and depth to the space. The beams were suspended down from the ceiling a few feet which allowed indirect lighting to be put on top of it. Shiplap adds to the nautical theme, which is integrated throughout the home. This includes the fireplace, backsplash, and periodic walls throughout the house. It’s a warm and inviting feeling.
Above: There are four different little seating areas in the great room (including the island) to provide eating and entertaining space for the kitchen.
