Moment Design Architecture envisioned this project as a contemporary take on Belgian-style farmhouses, nestled on six acres in Barrington Hills, a suburb of Chicago, Illinois. A landscape of rolling hills and a forested backdrop bring complete privacy to this spectacular home design.
The homeowners wanted the feel of an old structure that looks as if it has been added onto over time, with clean lines and traditional elements. For the exterior facade, the architects selected a limewashed brick that would become lighter over time. Additionally, the material palette includes cedar siding and a cedar shake roof. The cedar will weather and darken over the course of time.

Every room in this home is utilized including this beautiful dining room. The designer focused on making this space usable throughout the year, with a handcrafted white oak table by a local artisan that extends up to 12 feet in length. Casual chairs from Lee Industries are upholstered with a stain-resistant fabric that promotes regular family use. Not only does the family linger, but the wife also enjoys this space to do work while admiring views through the windows. She can also see her kids coming up the driveway after school!
