Stuart Silk Architects has designed this beautiful and minimally detailed, transitional-style house that is located in the heart of Seattle, Washington. The residence is modern yet warm and built for functionality with a taste of past elegance and style. Encompassing 7,400 square feet of living space, this exquisite home has five bedrooms and seven bathrooms.
White stucco contrasts sharply with other black elements including roof, windows, and moldings to create this dramatic expression in this home to create a striking expression that has both traditional and contemporary influences. The black and white theme of the exterior is carried through on the interior with the use of black doors and nearly black cerused paneling in the two-story entry hall.

Rooms are organized along a corridor that runs the length of the house. At the extreme ends are the entry hall/living room and at the other, the kitchen/family room. The home’s central feature is a covered outdoor terrace that is connected to the home with continuous French doors on three sides and opens to the garden on the fourth.
The rooms that connect to it include the family room, dining room, and living room. This outdoor “room” is a focus for the home and is an important part of daily living and gathering.
Some unique traits of the home include grey sandstone surrounding the main entry, with a cerused oak grand staircase and wainscot inside, sandstone pavers, sculptured tub, in-floor radiant heat throughout, and exterior French doors.
What We Love: This Seattle house features an elegant design with a layering of textures that creates an overall feeling of warmth. From the exterior facade, a black and white palette provides gorgeous curb appeal, inviting you into the luminous interior. A beautifully manicured property is welcomed inside through large windows, providing a relaxed atmosphere. We are especially loving the large chef’s kitchen and spa-like bathroom.

The primary energy source for the home comes from a sophisticated geothermal system accomplished by tubing embedded in six 300′ deep wells below the front yard of the property.
