This breezy beach house provides a serene sanctuary on Sullivan’s Island

Ink Architecture + Interiors is responsible for the design of this breezy beach house located on Sullivan’s Island, a town and island in Charleston County, South Carolina. The island is a serene sanctuary, nestled at the mouth of the Charleston Harbor and neighbor to the Isle of Palms, offering beautiful beaches, lots of watersports, and rich history.

The homeowners wanted a comfortable and casually elegant home with plenty of room for the family. With the local vernacular and beachy feel, these owners enjoy the classics of white-raised homes on the island. The project team was tasked with providing full design services from architectural design, design review board representation, contract administration, interior design, and decorating. Sherwin Williams colors and paint were used throughout the house.

Above: The fencing on either side of the property is just a welded wire fence between a wood frame. You can get it galvanized to hold up the salt water better. The goal was to create a “living” fence where eventually landscape vines will grow throughout the fencing and the rusting out of the wire will blend with the natural growth.

What We Love: This breezy beach house provides its inhabitants with a wonderful atmosphere for relaxed living. We are loving the beach-chic vibe of the interior decor in this home. Our favorite space is the screened porch, a great place to entertain family and friends or unwind with a good book and enjoy the soothing ocean breezes.

Tell Us: What details most inspired you in the design of this home and why in the Comments below!
