Robert Nebolon Architects is responsible for this 1960’s midcentury Eichler renovation, located in Burlingame, a city in San Mateo County, California. Eichler homes are examples of Modernist architecture that has come to be known as “California Modern”, and typically feature glass walls, post-and-beam construction, and open floorplans in a style indebted to Frank Lloyd Wright and Mies van der Rohe — as stated in Wikipedia.
The architect was approached by a couple (for whom the architect had designed two homes previously) to help them remodel this Eichler home. The previous owners had remodeled the home to the point of abuse and the new owners decided to do a full-scale remodeling and upgrade to the dwelling.
The entire front elevation was remodeled to be similar to the previous Eichler and to fit into the Eichler neighborhood. However, the remodeling updates the Eichler look.
Bonelli Doors + Windows is the brand of glazing that can be found throughout the home, creating a fabulous indoor-outdoor connection while flooding the interiors with natural light.
What We Love: This midcentury Eichler home offers clean lines and simple details, reflecting a modern yet inviting atmosphere. Meticulous gardens add fantastic curb appeal to the exterior facade of this home, adding to the overall welcoming feel. The result is a light and airy home that offers a wonderful transformation that will be surely enjoyed for years to come.
Tell Us: What do you think of the overall design details of this home? If this were your home, is there anything you would change in the design? Let us know your thoughts in the Comments, we love reading your feedback!
