This quaint shingle-style cottage was completely renovated by Smiros & Smiros Architects, located in Sea Cliff, a village located within the Town of Oyster Bay in Nassau County, New York. “Life experiences teach us, and we mature to the mold of a new lifestyle,” states the architects.
A longstanding relationship with the clients had offered the opportunity for the architects to revisit a project they had worked on two decades prior. They had renovated the stand-alone residence as a charming shingle-style cottage and outdoor pool. The comfortable shingle-style home had evolved as an estate, through the acquisition of adjacent properties.

Spaces throughout the dwelling were reimagined, reconfigured, and refinished to fit a new mindset and to coordinate with an expanding Estate. The architects also added a contemporary pool house, envisioned as a counterpoint to the main house. It was manifested into a sleek, derivative language affording it a distinct, more minimalist identity while remaining complementary to the main house.
What We Love: This quaint shingle style cottage offers its inhabitants a warm and inviting atmosphere for living and entertaining. Reimagining the home, enhancing the property, along with the pool house addition will allow the owners to enjoy this home for years to come. Overall, we think the architects did a wonderful job of creating a timeless design with stylish details and bright and airy living spaces.
