Astoundingly beautiful Romanesque villa perched above the Pacific Ocean

romanesque-villa-exterior

This gorgeous romanesque villa boasting 270-degree ocean views was designed by Oatman Architects, located at The Strand, Dana Point, California. A sanctuary of comfort and a triumph of lifestyle, this opulent dwelling is a reimagined medieval cloister, built with a collection of sculptured stone as a celebration of grand Roman architecture.

A carved limestone pediment marks the entry into a covered breezeway where a procession of vaults supported by nearly seamless stone columns, leads toward the true entry of this 9,946 square foot, seven-bedroom, nine-bathroom home.

The use of Dover Shell limestone on both the exterior and interior of the residence creates a sense of permanence and continuity between spaces, which is further enhanced by the thin profile steel doors, and windows.

A lavish infinity-edge pool is carved into the landscape to energize the courtyard and secret garden.

When describing this project, the architect quotes Frances Mayes, author of the book Under the Tuscan Sun, “The house is a metaphor for the self,” sublimely suited to its owner.

I would change the furnishings. Not my style. Otherwise, an awesome home. Would like to see the floorplans.

i don’t even like the design, but i still think that the designers did an incredible job of accomplishing what they set out to accomplish.

Lots of creative thought went into this one. And a view to Pacific -and- Orange County. Splendid. Where do I sign up?
