Charming stone cottage is an idyllic escape overlooking Lake Minnetonka

This charming stone cottage was designed by Murphy & Co Design, remotely set on a discreet spoke of Lake Minnetonka, Minnesota. The owner’s had a wish for a gardener’s cottage with plenty of charm and warmth. This idyllic escape offers 1,545 square feet of living space, nestled on a site neighboring the main residence. It was designed to mirror the fine architectural details found in that structure.

As such, the project team incorporated stone, plaster, and raw timbers into the bold and rustic architectural forms, utilizing a staggered slate roof to allow the cozy, cottage-like residence to feel perfectly at home overlooking the lake beyond.

Project Team: Architect: Murphy & Co Design | Contractor: Thomas Bren Homes | Interior Design: Willis Watts (Atlanta, GA) | Landscape Architect: Brian Butterfield

What We Love: This charming stone cottage offers a tranquil place to host overnight guests for some rest and relaxation. We are loving the architectural beauty of exterior facade, from the stonework to the corbels and even the gas lanterns. We can just imagine how beautiful this home would be in the evening time! The main bedroom with its private balcony provides sweeping views over the lake, the perfect spot to enjoy sunrises and sunsets over the water.
