modern-casual-farmhouse-exterior

David Charlez Designs in collaboration with Bria Hammel Interiors has renovated this modern, casual farmhouse located in the countryside of Rochester, Minnesota. Highlights to this home include vaulted ceilings with exposed beams, a bright and open floor plan and traditional farmhouse style furnishings.

A warm and inviting exterior facade greets you upon arrival, including cedar columns and brackets, ship lap and board and batten siding. By contrast, black windows and sleek lines lend a modern and updated feel. Authentic, plantation style fans on the front porch creates a comfortable outdoor space for lounging and entertaining.

Above: In the foyer, the casual farmhouse style was played up with the use of shiplap on all of the walls. Since this home belongs to a family with three young boys, the owners desired durable and easily scrubbable materials, especially in high-traffic zones. For further durability, the bench seating features a custom fabric cushion — Life Friendly™ by Brooke & Lou.

Above: In the kitchen, the vaulted ceilings were accentuated with gorgeous, dramatic beams. Cabinets were painted the same color as the walls, drawing the eye upwards. Paint color is White Dove OC-17 | Benjamin Moore (which was used throughout the entire home). A few textured, vintage, Brooke & Lou accessories lends a nod to the collected, farmhouse feel of the home. These accessories also bring warmth and character to the space.

Above: The mudroom was designed to be functional and practical. A brick floor is perfect for hiding dirt, while a wood top bench was integrated for durability. There are plenty of drawers and hooks for storage, ideal for a busy family!

Above: Adjacent to the kitchen is the dining room. To balance the scale of this room, the designer selected oversized lanterns that would pop against an all-white backdrop. The space feels warm and inviting, perfect for dinner parties and lively brunches.

Above: The dining and kitchen spaces open up to the main living room, so it was important to create a cohesive aesthetic by tying certain aspects of all of these spaces together. For instance, the fireplace brick is repeated on the mudroom floor. The brick was kept natural, so furnishings were selected in a similar color palette and in saturated colors.

Stunning! Was wondering if you could send me source of where you got the handles and hooks for mudroom. Exactly the color I’m looking for!

Do you mind sharing the source for the wood side table in the living room? It’s so cool.

Beautiful combination of neutral colors and I love the black accents.
