ArchiBlox completed this project of updating an Edwardian home with a prefab modular addition, located in Balaclava, an inner suburb of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. Completed in just 21 weeks, the addition seamlessly integrates the existing structure with a modern two level modular addition. Overall this 1,722 square foot house boasts a beautiful and refined aesthetic. Spaces have been configured to create intimacy while enabling the kitchen to open to both the dining and seperate living area. Upstairs you will find a learning corridor โ a work space for the three kids, along with two additional bedrooms and a bathroom.
Specifics: Three bedrooms, two bathrooms, library, two living areas, kitchen, pantry, dining room, walk-in robe, laundry room, play area.
Key Sustainable Features: Considerable overhangs, correct orientation, submerged water tanks, hydronic heating and general use of sustainable and renewable materials enhance the green credentials of Archiblox.
What We Love: This prefab modular home offers a fantastic design that emphasizes indoor-outdoor living. The architects met their objectives to create a space which looks clean and modern but also meets the storage requirements of having three kids. We also appreciate the personality of this design, something that is oftentimes missing from modern living spaces… Readers, what do you think of the look and feel of this prefab home, anything you would like to have seen done differently?
