Tour the ultimate dream house in beautiful Southern California

traditional-modern-kitchen-dream-house

This family dream house in Southern California designed by Amber Interiors is proof that a sophisticated, stylish home can be conducive to kids. This home was designed for a family of seven: two parents, four young kids, and one Golden Retriever. One of the major goals of this renovation project entailed brightening up the entire home.

To achieve this, the designer preserved the original white oak plank flooring — stripping and refinishing it with a lighter custom stain. To maximize brightness in the interior spaces, the majority of the home was painted in Simply White OC-117 | Benjamin Moore. The result of this transformation is the perfect combination of traditional and cozy, a little upscale farm, country cool and east coast-vibe.

Above: The designer expanded and pushed out the kitchen and old sunroom to add a breakfast nook and living room. With four children, the homeowner wanted to have an open concept to keep tabs on everyone. Existing ceiling beams were removed and replaced with tongue and groove ceilings, elongating the room and creating a more visually appealing space. A large center island features Calacatta marble countertops, the base painted in Wrought Iron 2124-10 | Benjamin Moore. For the perimeter cabinets, the designer selected Revere Pewter HC-172 | Benjamin Moore to add depth and more color.

I have returned back to pictures if this house MANY times for inspiration. It is so beautiful and I’m so happy the details are shared about paint colors and where furniture is from, but i was wondering where the rugs are coming from? I struggle finding rugs I like and I would buy any of these shown in this home in a heartbeat

I love this home so much, especially the kitchen! Can you please tell me what hardware was used on the front of the island? I wish there was a picture of that angle. Are they the same black knobs and pulls used on the taupe cabinetry? I’m using these exact paint colors on my new kitchen being installed next week (hope you don’t mind!). I’m doing black on the taupe, but I really want to do brass on the island because I love how brass pops on black. But, mixing metals is always a little scarier. It’s hard to envision… Read more »
