A log cabin was recently turned into a beautifully styled lake house retreat for family gatherings, located on Pleasant Hill Lake in the rural area of Perrysville, Ohio. Owned by a couple whose main house is conveniently just 80 miles away in Columbus, the home was just recently purchased as a family getaway. Notable features includes an open plan layout, soaring 20 foot high ceilings and a spacious front porch for sitting and enjoying the beautiful lake views.
One of the homeowners has three beautiful home decor stores called Bungalow Home, which allowed her to not only show off her great decorating skills but to source items from her store into her home. In the living room, slipcovered furnishings makes the space casual and welcoming. Decor items were a mix of antique market finds and the homeowners own shop. One of the main updates to the structure was to capture the views of the lake by adding half a dozen windows.

Above: In the kitchen, vintage nickel door knobs (Restoration Hardware) were added, upper cabinets were removed and pendant light fixtures replaced outdated ones to re-fresh the space. The countertops are Carrara marble, while the apron-front sink is by Kohler.
Above: The walls were given a fresh coat of white paint (Simply White by Benjamin Moore), the homeowners go to color. The hickory wood flooring, banister and ceilings adds visual contrast to the white.
Even though there were only a couple of bedrooms, there were other attractive features that made this home appealing; such as a roomy basement and loft, offering extra sleeping quarters for overnight guests. The house was not in need of any major renovations, but seemed to lack personality and warmth.
