Stunning courtyard house in Wisconsin builds on its mid-century roots

courtyard-house-contemporary-exterior

This courtyard house project involves the renovation and addition of a 1960s mid-century modern ranch house located in Madison, Wisconsin, designed by Bruns Architecture. The scope of the project was to balance the introverted nature of a courtyard with the bold personality of an extrovert all while managing matters of privacy.

This renovation builds on its solid mid-century roots.  The renovation includes the addition of a proper entry, elevated master suite, and covered parking, but also pierces and stretches the solid forms to create connection between indoor and outdoor spaces. The interior design of the home was carried out by design firm MANI & Company.

The dining room buffet cabinets to the left of the fireplace are custom built-ins, while to the right, display shelves have been mounted underneath the television.

It’s a huge house to maintain, yet they’re able to established great innovation on it. One thing’s for sure, it’s valuable for a modern ranch house. This is the type of house I’m looking forward to buy from CIR realty.
