A mountain modern take on the classic ski-in/ski-out chalet in Montana

rustic-exterior

This mountain modern chalet was designed as a family-friendly vacation home by Stillwater Architecture, located in Whitefish, Montana. Nestled slopeside on the outskirts of the Whitefish Mountain Resort, this 2,626 square foot retreat was built by Bear Mountain Builders to withstand the harsh Montana winters. The ski chalet caters to an assortment of outdoor activities while offering easy access to the rugged mountain trails.

The design team created this home to offer everything one would expect to find in a ski chalet: fantastic location, cozy living spaces, spacious kitchen, plenty of amenities and a well-designed floor plan to capture natural light. Material selections includes reclaimed wood throughout the interiors, everything from milled cedar siding on the exterior facade to custom designed pivot hinge doors found on the interiors.

Bright pops of color can be seen throughout the interiors, creating a feeling of warmth and playfulness. A 1970’s ski chalet theme was employed to the interiors, which was carried out by Hunter & Company Interior Design, who infused blue and orange accents. This also helped to create harmony to the space’s industrial-contemporary aesthetic. The result is a gorgeous, unique home that is ultra-comfortable, welcoming and complements the beauty of its mountainous surroundings.
