Dutch meets West Indies in this stylish Atlanta dream home

We have a new designer crush, Lee Kleinhelter, whose fabulous work has graced numerous magazines, her own home is an absolute dream. The dwelling, whose exterior facade is a melding of Dutch meets West Indies, is located in the historic neighborhood of Brookwood Hills, in Atlanta, Georgia. Architecture studio Pak Heydt and Associates worked with the designer and her family to cultivate their vision.

“The goal was to design a home that tells the same story inside and out,” states Kleinhelter. A beautiful stone pathway was created out of custom cement pavers, leading you up to a black painted doorway. The home features a circular theme that beings with the exterior facade and its arching windows and the round pavers for the pathway to the entrance. Inside, striking mirrored globe pendants can be seen hanging in the stairwell.

Since this is the designer’s personal abode, it was important for every space to be purposeful, catering to their lifestyle. Her husband is owner of K2 Construction, specializing in custom homes and renovations. They had already owned the property, but had previously lived in a high rise apartment.

The home had been a rental, but the time had come, five years in the making, for the couple and their young son, to make some roots. The historical neighborhood is filled with charming homes with plenty of character. Their dated duplex was torn down and in its place, they built this modern manor home from the ground up.

What We Love: This gorgeous dream home offers a beautiful mix of furnishings, fixtures, and decor to create a stylish and heavenly abode. Loving all of the unique details throughout this home and the color palette is ultra-chic. This home is picture perfect, like something out of a magazine… it has been featured in several! Can we just say, that the pooch in the picture above is so adorable! And in case you are wondering, his two little furry friends are called “silkie chickens”. If you don’t know what they are, apparently they make excellent pets as they are very friendly.

The interiors reflect a chic mix of industrial and coastal elements which begins with the exterior facade. Encompassing 4,160 square feet of living space, the contemporary interior offers expansive windows inviting in the lush surroundings. Natural light spills into the beautiful spaces, filled with a classic palette of black, white and gold with hints of mid-century vintage. Instead of focusing on decorating with art pieces around her home, the designer uses interesting textures and hardware as the art.
