This modern dwelling was designed by U3 Architecture, standing out for the topography of the plot where it is located, in Torrelodones, a municipality of Madrid, Spain. The architectural design stands out, along with the layout and uniqueness of the rocks and existing trees. Together they form a unique and unrepeatable landscape.
Two volumes of concrete rise above the natural slope of the plot, while the rest of the house seems to hide behind the reflection of the forest, making itself invisible. To achieve the complete integration of housing we had to find a language capable of expressing and enhancing the same sensations that are extracted when contemplating existing rocky granite formations, and suggesting to the one who contemplates the idea of weightlessness and balance, explains the architect.
Rock’s House is a dialogue between the opaque and the transparent, between the heavy and the light, between the architecture that wants to show itself and the one that seeks to disappear. These antitheses generate differentiated spaces. The closed bodies have been used to locate the private uses, while in the other open spaces, in permanent connection with the outside, are located the common areas, always looking for the direct view of the forest.
This house has three bedrooms — one master with dressing room and bathroom, and two with shared bathroom — guest room, kitchen, dining room and living room. The outdoor area has a porch with terrace and swimming pool. Finally, under the house there is a garage with enough space for two vehicles.
What We Love: This sleek concrete modern dwelling features a unique exterior design and minimalist interior. Designed to integrate with its surroundings, the home was a visually interesting aesthetic that has serious curb appeal. Large windows integrated into the facade helps to illuminate the interiors with natural light and provide views to the suburban landscape… also loving the sleek staircase design!
Readers, what do you think of this unique modern dwelling? Do you find the design too minimal for your taste?
