A Woodside home designed in perfect harmony with nature

A contemporary residence and pool house was newly designed by San Francisco-based Arcanum Architecture, located in the western foothills of Silicon Valley in the quaint town of Woodside, California. This magnificent compound boasts 9,776 square feet of living space, with five bedrooms and four bathrooms. The design focuses on the use of natural light and visual symmetry to deliver its inhabitants and warm and welcoming living experience. Glass enclosed corridors connects the structures, helping to illuminate the interiors. A series of hipped roof visually completes the aesthetic from the exterior facade, protecting each one of the structures from the elements.

The architects created a dynamic footprint that engages and interacts with the surrounding environment to create an inviting living space for both homeowners and their visitors. Extensive windows and sliding glass doors creates luminosity and helps to connect the interior spaces with the landscape, blurring the lines between indoors and out.

What We Love: An open and spacious floor plan that is in perfect harmony with its natural surroundings, clean lines and modern design, as well as a climate that has consistently pleasant temperates makes this home very livable… not to mention all of the natural light this space gets with extensive glazing and disappearing glass walls! What are your thoughts, would you vie to live in this very spacious dwelling in Woodside, California?

The design team employed a neutral color palette of integral color plaster (meaning the color pigment is mixed directly into the final coat of plaster or stucco, eliminating the need for paint) both indoors and out, mixed with wood siding to help compliment the surrounding backdrop of mature woods. The stunning pendant light fixture above the kitchen island was designed by Flos Lighting.

Who were the builders?
