This sensational contemporary home features clean lines and a sleek exterior facade, designed by Alterstudio Architecture, located in Austin, Texas. Expansive walls of glass helps to illuminate the spaces with natural light and blur the indoor-outdoor boundaries. The residence was oriented on the site to maximize the views of the greenbelt and surrounding property.
The design of the facade features a single story structure attached to a two-story mass. The entrance into the home is established through a lovely courtyard centered around mature oak trees. At the rear of the property, a private courtyard helps to conceal the home from neighboring houses, providing a tranquil refuge.
Note: Built in 2015, this home won the “Builder’s Choice Custom Home Design Award – Grand Award.”
Inspired by Eichler Homes of Northern California, the architect designed windows to offer views to the outside while obscuring from view the neighboring homes. Rooms seem to extend to the outdoors thanks to generous sized windows and mahogany sliders.
What We Love: This striking contemporary home design reflects a wonderful transparency offering luminosity and views of the surrounding wooded site. We love how the architects designed the walls and windows to highlight the views while shielding neighboring homes from interior sight lines.
