This charming lowcountry style home has been beautifully renovated by Linda McDougald Design is nestled in Palmetto Bluff, in Bluffton, South Carolina. The Palmetto Bluff area is one of the most pristine and protected areas in the country. The natural beauty that surrounds this property is a wonderful place to call home… or just come for a visit. The residence is tucked in beside a meandering river, fitting in flawlessly with its surrounding environment. The interior living spaces offer a total of 3,787 square feet of living space, with an overall habitable space, including porches, of 5,649 square feet. The architect who was responsible for the design of this home was Johnston Design Group and the builder was H2 Builders.
The entryway into this beautiful home features a mahogany door with a walnut stain. The lights on either side of the door is the Charleston Collection, CH 27 gas lanterns, sourced from Lantern & Scroll.

On the interiors, the main living spaces feature reclaimed heart pine flooring with a custom stain of ebony and dark walnut blend. The walls were painted in Benjamin Moore Berkshire Beige, while the trim is Sherwin Williams Pure White. The ceilings throughout the home were painted in same hue as the trim, in an eggshell finish.
Above: In the foyer, the nailhead chairs decorating either side of the console table were sourced from Restoration Hardware. The wall sconces were sourced from Avrett. The beautiful contemporary artwork on the wall is an original Shannon Plourde Painting, an artist from Greenville, South Carolina. Additional paintings by the artist can be found on the designer’s online shop, Postcard From Paris.
Above: In the kitchen, the designer has selected a Viking downdraft cooktop, which eliminates smoke and odors and the need for a hood. The custom cabinets were painted in Sherwin Williams Pure White SW7005 Satin; while the brushed satin nickel hardware was sourced from Top Knobs. The countertops feature Absolute Black marble honed. Above the 9′ x 42″ kitchen island, 8″ brushed nickel pendant light fixtures provides fantastic task lighting—sourced from Restoration Hardware. The wall color is Benjamin Moore Berkshire Beige AC-2 / Flat.

Above: The living room features a beautiful sofa from Restoration Hardware in their upholstery grade linen; the color specification is ‘sand’. Paint colors: Walls: Benjamin Moore Berkshire Beige AC-2 / Flat. Trim: Sherwin Williams Pure White SW7005 Satin. The brick fireplace provides a decorative focal point to the space, adding warmth and a sense of place. The overhead pendant lamp, illuminating the space with natural light, is 1406 Montgomery Collection (source). Pulling the space together is the Stark sisal area rug in their Natura collection, the color is ‘Platinum’.
Above: Suspended above the dining table is the 14-Light Tall Bridge Chandelier, the CandleAria Dakota Collection by Justice Design Group (source). The exquisite salvaged wood trestle dining table is 108″ in length, sourced from Restoration Hardware. The nailhead dining chairs (Belgian linen sand fabric with a weathered oak finish) are also from Restoration Hardware. The mirror above the buffet can be found at Pottery Barn. The gorgeous area rug is a one-of-a-kind antique Persian Tabriz rug.
Tip: The designer has noted that when placing an area rug in the dining room, “it should be 2.5′ larger than the table all around.”

Above: A custom designed bed was upholstered in Kravet fabric with a 60″ high headboard. The duvet and center throw pillow were custom fabricated with Lee Jofa fabric from their Threads collection. The bedspread and coverlet were purchased from Matteo Home. The wool and jute area rug helps to add texture and comfort underfoot, sourced from Pottery Barn. A neutral color scheme creates a serene environment, with tongue and groove shiplap walls exuding a relaxed aesthetic. Wall Paint: Benjamin Moore Berkshire Beige AC-2 / Flat. The ceiling and trim color are Sherwin Williams Pure White.
