This contemporary lakefront home was created by Rehkamp Larson Architects, along with interiors studio Brooke Voss Design, located on Lake Minnetonka, Minnesota. The residence was built by John Kraemer & Sons to cater to the lifestyle of a young and active family. Spaces were designed and built with the primary focus of family interaction and entertainment. The goal of the project was to maximize views of the lake through expansive glass in some areas of the home, with playful peeks of landscape in others. “A bridge leads to the front door and the moat below allows the steep grade to transition around the house and sensibly dispel runoff”, states the architects.
Inside, an open plan layout flow harmoniously form one space to the next. On one end, a large wood-burning fireplace dominates, while a bright and airy kitchen encompasses the opposing end. The summer months can be enjoyed in an inviting screened-in porch, accessible through sliding glass doors. “Confetti windows on the fireplace wall and a family-size reading nook hint at the dynamic personalities living here,” the architects stated.
Beautiful reclaimed flooring throughout the main living spaces was selected for its durability. The dwelling is a mix of practical and functional materials, such as exposed concrete and steel. Playful design elements can be seen throughout, with a focus on family lake living.
What We Love: The interior of this lakefront modern home is enhanced by a mix of gorgeous textures and materials that makes for a wonderful family retreat. Expansive windows captures views out towards the home’s privileged lakeside location. Warm and inviting, this Minnesota home will be enjoyed by family and guests alike.
