This renovated countryside home features a minimalist-modern style aesthetic, designed by the studio Dröm Living, located in the small town of is Llívia, in the province of Girona, Catalonia, Spain. A radical transform for a second residence was carried out to cater to the modern lifestyle and tastes of the homeowners. Three levels encompassing 1,937 square feet (180 square meters) was completely transformed both physically and structurally. The main objective of this renovation project was to eliminate the rustic styling of the home and transform it into a modern and bright shelter infused with warmth. This home was to provide accommodation to a family that enjoys frequent vacationing to the snow.
After a complete overhaul that affected not only the interior design and appearance of the environment but also to the building structure, the result is minimalist but comfortable. The distribution was completely changed in order to eliminate visual and spatial barriers. Spaces communicate effortlessly with each other, allowing a nice flow between them.
The living room, kitchen, bedrooms, spacious and airy attic floor and a staircase becomes a more decorative object and a point of natural light. The exterior facade was also completely transformed. What We Love: An exterior of rural character and an interior completely renovated from rustic to a minimalist-modern atmosphere resulted in a radical transformation that is visually stunning. We like how the homeowners have preserved the past by keeping the exterior facade as it once was and updating the interior to meet with their lifestyle needs and aesthetic tastes.
How about you, what do you think of the design of this home, comparing the before and after images, do you think the designers did a good job in this renovation project? Do you like the modern updates or do you think they should have kept it rustic?
