We haven’t showcased a French country style home in a long time, but when we fell on this Montecito, California home, we knew it deserved a mention for its exceptional architecture. Designed by architect Jane Snyder of Mosaic Architects and custom built by general contractors Giffin & Crane, this family home was commissioned by a dream team where no detail was overlooked. Designed for relaxing and comfortable living, this home caters to those who enjoy a tranquil lifestyle in the countryside, with nothing but sprawling acreage and distant mountains. Throughout the home you will notice the use of reclaimed vintage beams on the ceiling and white oak flooring through much of the living and bedroom areas, which was handscraped, distressed and then finished on site. The interior design scheme features a french country styling, infused with lovely fabrics and provincial patterns, a soft color palette, decorative trims, attractive fringes and lacy accents, creating a very elegant aesthetic.
In the living room, a curved archway edged with rustic stone leads into the dining room, adding to the architectural detailing that gives this home is French country character. The intricate molding details of the fireplace also adds to the charm, not to mention a central focal point to the space, enhancing the ambiance. Comfortable furnishings makes the space warm and inviting, giving a very homey feel. Have a look at other French country style home tours here.
The striking kitchen features a wood clad ceiling, terra cotta flooring, a centrally located island with a butcher block wood top and an open layout to the sunlit breakfast nook. Another notable feature in this space is the use of bead board on the center island and a shaker door style on the perimeter cabinets.
What We Love: The reclaimed beams on the ceiling and the beautiful mix of terra cotta and oak wood flooring throughout creates an inviting and warm aesthetic thats hard to beat. Offering a very homey feel both inside and out, this is a fantastic family home with a timeless appeal. What do you think, do you like the French country style?
