This bright and airy minimalist penthouse attic was completed by interior designer Katty Schiebeck, located in Sant Gervasi, a district in Barcelona, Spain. Comprised of 861 square feet (80 square meters) of living space, the design team was looking to maximize the terrace space to take advantage of the surrounding privileged views. The terrace was at the core of the design, bringing in light through glass windows and a sliding patio doorway. It is an extension of the hallway and the home office, featuring inviting and cozy furnishings, since the weather in Barcelona allows homeowner’s to use the outdoor space for most of the year. The interiors feature a backdrop of crisp white walls with neutral elements decorating the spaces, helping to maximize the feeling of space and luminosity.
The living room features a step up to make this small home more visually interesting and feel more spacious. The fireplace wall is the focal point to the room, featuring a small built-in seating nook on one side and a firewood niche on the other. A black and white painting on the wall gives character to the space, while a fur area rug adds texture and warmth to the wide wood plank flooring. What do you think of this compact penthouse, are you into minimalist living?
