This fabulous duplex loft renovation has been designed by Selldorf Architects. located in Chelsea, a neighborhood in Manhattan, New York City, New York. The loft has a unique past, originally housing a running track and basketball court for a gymnasium. A conversion prior to this renovation had masked most of the structural elements, so the architects worked on uncovering and re-expressing those original details. Drawing out the original industrial features further, casement windows, blackened steel railings and concrete floor tiles were installed. The upper level houses the public spaces, which encompasses a spacious open plan living, dining and kitchen area. The downstairs level features a double height atrium, with a staircase connecting both levels. This level includes a sun-filled family room, master bedroom en-suite, plus two additional bedrooms. White walls, soaring ceilings and tall windows throughout keeps this loft feeling bright, airy and very spacious. The dark flooring contrasts with the white walls, creating a visually impactful design aesthetic. We love this cool loft conversion, its open and spacious…and the colorful sectional in the downstairs family room is great addition. What do you think, could you find yourself living in this loft?
