Dream Home Studio, together with Northside Design Collective, has designed this absolutely stunning mountain home in a gated golf course community between Asheville and Hendersonville in Western North Carolina. The South Florida-based owners were looking for specific qualities for their vacation and eventual retirement home.
It needed to be in a safe, well-maintained area that offers a built-in social network for golf, dinner dates, cocktail parties, and other gatherings while they are in town. It also offers easy access to the Asheville airport. Continue below to discover how this South Florida couple’s vision for the perfect mountain escape came to life.

What We Love About This Home
We love the warm, modern aesthetic of this Western North Carolina mountain home, from the two-toned wood-slat ceilings and custom walnut cabinetry to the stunning green stone-slab shower in the owner’s bath. The designers did an incredible job of mixing blues, greens, and organic textures throughout to echo the mountain landscape just beyond the windows. All the customized details throughout, along with seamless indoor-outdoor living spaces, make this home as functional as it is beautiful. The thoughtful features for the fur babies, from the dog wash station to the custom dog-bowl area in the pantry, are the perfect finishing touch!

A Grand Arrival

Above: The light fixture in the entryway is from Hubbardton Forge. The stool is from Vanguard Furniture, while the custom shelf was fabricated by Cris Bifaro Woodworks.
Large windows and pairs of doors that open to the screened porch and pocket away when not in use take full advantage of the region’s year-round indoor/outdoor living capabilities. These homeowners desired a warm, modern aesthetic that paid homage to the home’s location and mountain views, and they wanted to work with local talent for custom features. Northside’s team worked with them for months to design each cabinetry, finish, tile, and fixture detail to their taste.
The Great Room

Above: In the living room, the custom Del Ray Sectional by Lancaster Upholstery fits the space beautifully. The chair is from Vanguard Furniture.

The Great Room features a high ceiling clad in two-toned wood slats and an LED chandelier. Openings between the Foyer, Great Room, Kitchen, and Dining area are clad in dark-stained wood, coordinating with the custom walnut Kitchen cabinets and fireplace wall built-ins. Blues and Greens are pulled into the fabric palette and artwork to echo the colors from the mountain landscape.
Dining Room & Custom Cocktail Bar

Above: In the dining room, the table is from Bricker & Beam, and the beautiful vases on the table were sourced from Lexington Glassworks. Grounding this space is an area rug from Textura Rugs. The custom bar with built-in wine storage is by Cris Bifaro Woodworks.
These homeowners love to entertain, so the custom cocktail bar in the Dining Room is a showpiece. It features a locally sourced quartzite slab, wine columns, custom walnut cabinetry, and steel details. The large diameter round dining table was also crafted locally. Just off the Dining Room, the outdoor living area is just as comfortable, since Asheville residents are able to entertain outside most of the year.
Kitchen & Butler’s Pantry

Above: In the kitchen, the waterfall island is quartz by Cambria Surfaces, sourced from Nature of Stone. The counter stools are from Four Hands Furniture. The light fixture over the island is by Visual Comfort. The kitchen was custom-crafted by Cris Bifaro Woodworks.

The Kitchen hood shroud is crafted from steel, and the slat ceiling detail repeats from the Kitchen into the Butler’s Pantry. There’s no doorway between the two spaces, which the architect intended. Designers used this detail to feature custom woodwork that runs from one space into the next, tying them together.

The Pantry has a coffee bar for the homeowners and a custom dog bowl area for the fur babies, too. Glass-front cabinetry displays the couple’s china collection.
Outdoor Living

Above: On the covered porch, the ceiling fans were sourced from Big Ass Fans. The outdoor furnishings are from Bernhardt Furniture. The outdoor kitchen appliances were sourced from Ferguson Home.

Owner’s Bedroom Suite

Above: The custom cabinet in the owner’s bedroom is by Keystone Kitchen & Bath. This dreamy space comes complete with a custom sound system from Crowne Audio.

Owner’s Bathroom

Above: The owner’s bathroom was custom-fabricated by Keystone Kitchen & Bath. The custom glass shower was sourced from Britt and Tilson Glass. The exquisite stone in the shower was sourced from Nature of Stone. The vanity countertop and backsplash material are from Horizon Tile & Stone Gallery, while the sink faucet is from Brizo. The area rug is from Textura Rugs.

From the start, the homeowners wanted a stone slab feature for their bathroom shower. The design team helped them select a green-toned slab, which became the room’s focal point. The textured stone splash at her sit down makeup vanity echoes the green accents, while large-format porcelain tile clads the floor and shower walls.

Lower Level

Above: On the lower level, the furnishings are from Vanguard Furniture.

The Lower Level features a Family/Rec Room complete with a seating area, game table, and bar. Also on this level are multiple guest spaces and a home gym and a hot tub on the lower level patio.
Guest Bedrooms & Bathrooms

Laundry Room & Mudroom

A dog run was also included for the pups, and a dog wash was included on the main level. Now all four residents (humans and pups alike) enjoy this custom WNC home while they await the day it becomes their full-time residence.
