What We Love: Despite this cozy fishing cabin’s rustic aesthetic, it doesn’t skimp out on the simple day-to-day luxuries. An inviting front porch, sun-drenched screened-in porch and cozy sleeping nooks, this amazing cabin in the woods is the ultimate getaway for nature lovers.

Above: There is no need for wall art in this home when you are greeted by a canvas of lush forest. The architect installed floor-to-ceiling windows in the living room, bringing the magnificent outdoors inside. The windows are operable, allowing for fresh cross-breezes during the warm summer months.
Above: Located at the heart of this home is a soapstone Tulikivi fireplace, which heats the entire cabin. All of the cabinetry, trim work and flooring (bedrooms) are made from locally sourced woods.
Above: In the kitchen, the countertops are soapstone. The ceiling and beams are fir, and the cabinetry is made of a locally-sourced cherry wood. The two woods play off of each other really nicely, and provide some beautiful depth and detail to the kitchen! The flooring is a slate tile over a heated floor.

Above: While a master bedroom is located on the main floor, another bed is is located in the upstairs loft space. The bed’s wooden board plays double-duty as a partition from the rest of the room. Clever tricks were integrated into the design, including building under-bed storage and foregoing bedside table lamps for pendant lights, saving much needed space.
Above: Another sleeping quarter is carved out in a cabin nook. Drawers integrated beneath the bed eliminates the need for a chest of drawers. Love the closet’s built-in bench!
